The Mama Cow Books is an independent children’s publisher dedicated to celebrating the many ways families are made. Inspired by real stories of single motherhood, surrogacy, and chosen parenthood, our board books are written with toddlers in mind, simple, inclusive, and joyful. Meet Lisa
Lisa Proeber is a single mom by choice to two boys and a former surrogate. Her journey to parenthood inspired her to create Mama Cow, a board book series that introduces little ones to the many ways families are made.
After struggling to find age-appropriate books that explained modern family-building in a simple and loving way, Lisa decided to write her own. Using farm animals and gentle storytelling, Mama Cow helps young children understand that every family story is special.
Lisa’s mission is to create inclusive books that celebrate all paths to parenthood and spark meaningful conversations between parents and their kids.
